An Operating System is the software which communicates with the hardware of a computer and is the intermediary between the installed applications and the hardware, including peripherals such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run an app, it transfers requests to the OS through an API (Application Program Interface) and the interaction is done via a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Just like a personal computer, web hosting servers also feature an Operating System that acts as a host for any software installed on them, including script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, and many others. A virtual machine can be set up on a physical one, so you could install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast to the physical server host Operating System.

These are among the most popular and most stable server OSs available on the market and we offer them so that you have a choice for the software environment of your machine in case that you would like to install some app with specific requirements regarding the packages that must be present on the server. We also offer three web hosting Control Panels and which one of them you may use depends on the OS that you have chosen. We leave the option to change the server Operating System open, so when you want to use an application that requires an OS different from the one that's already present, we can always reinstall the VPS. In addition, we can keep the OS up-to-date on a weekly basis by installing all the security updates which may be released.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server plans - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they're totally free so they will not increase the price of your new web server, but also because they are exceptionally stable and secure. Each one of them is backed up by a vast community of web developers, so you will be able to choose from many hundreds of software packages that you could install on your server in case the application that you want to employ has certain requirements. The Operating System will also determine what hosting Control Panel you can use as the Control Panels that we offer run on particular OSs only and since we want to give you as much freedom as possible, we offer several OSs and multiple Control Panels. In case you get a server with a given OS, we could change it upon request in the event that it turns out that you need alternative one. We will also keep your OS updated on a weekly basis as a part of our optional Managed Services upgrade.
