Whois Privacy Protection, at times also referred to as WHOIS or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that hides the real contact info of domain name owners on WHOIS check websites. Without this service, the personal name, postal address and email of any domain registrant will be openly available. Providing false information during the domain registration procedure or changing the authentic details afterwards will just not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain name registrant losing his/her domain name ownership rights. The policies adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), require that the WHOIS info must be valid and up to date at all times. The Whois Privacy Protection service was introduced by domain name registrars as an answer to the rising concerns about potential identity fraud. If the service is active, the domain name registrar’s contact details will be shown instead of the domain name registrant’s upon a WHOIS check. Most domains support the Whois Privacy Protection service, although there are certain country-code extensions that do not.

Whois Privacy Protection in Web Hosting

If you order a web hosting plan from us, you’ll be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domains provided that their extensions support the service. You can register/transfer a domain name and enable Whois Privacy Protection during the account activation procedure or you can enable the service for any of your domain names at any time later through the Hepsia Control Panel. The procedure is stunningly easy – after you sign in, you’ll need to go to the Registered Domains section where you will find a list of all the domains that you have registered with our company. For each of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” logo, which will show you if the service is active or not. By clicking on it, you can either Whois Privacy Protect the domain name, or you can deactivate the service if it is currently activated.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain under it, you can enable our Whois Privacy Protection service with ease. This takes just a few clicks in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, via which you administer everything related to your semi-dedicated web hosting account. This is where you can see all your registered domains and for each one of them you’ll find an “Whois Privacy Protection” icon, using which you can order, renew or deactivate the service. Of course, this can be done only with generic and country-specific Top-Level Domain extensions that support this option and you will be able to see this in advance, so that you won’t end up purchasing a service that we can’t provide.
